5 Signs You’re Living Out of Spiritual Alignment—And How to Reconnect With Yourself

Today we’re diving into something that I know many of us experience at some point in life—feeling out of spiritual alignment. Maybe at the moment life feels a little off, a little meh, or like you’re just going through the motions?

First off, there’s zero judgment here. If you recognize yourself in any of these signs, it’s not a reason to beat yourself up. It’s simply an opportunity—a gentle nudge to come back home to yourself. It’s like meditation: when you catch your mind wandering, you don’t get mad at yourself. You just notice it and return to the breath. It’s the same thing here—noticing the misalignment and coming back home to your true self.

So, let’s jump in..

5 Signs You’re Living Out of Spiritual Alignment

🌿 Sign #1: You Wake Up with Dread or Constantly Feel Drained.

You know that feeling… the Sunday scaries?! I’m sure you’ve had it when you are faced with a job or task the next day you don’t like, even when it’s not Sunday! This is when you wake up and immediately feel the weight of the day. Maybe it’s work, relationships, or just life feeling like a never ending to-do list.

This kind of fatigue isn’t just about needing more sleep. It’s your body resisting the life you’re living. It’s like your soul is quietly whispering, “This isn’t working for us.” When you’re in spiritual alignment, you might still have busy days, but there’s an undercurrent of energy and purpose. When you’re out of alignment, everything feels heavier AND SO MUCH HARDER than it should.

For me, this used to be my old jobs, especially when I worked at the courthouse and used to wake up 20 minutes before work and rush out the door. For me now, it shows up when I start dreading my calendar. If I look at the week ahead and feel ugh and overwhelmed, not calm, I know it’s time to pause and check in.

🌿 Sign #2: You’re Saying ‘Yes’ When You Mean ‘No.’

Ah, the classic people-pleasing trap. One of the sneaky signs you’re out of spiritual alignment. It’s so easy to fall into, especially if you were taught to be “nice,” “helpful,” or “easygoing.”

But every time you say “yes” to something that doesn’t light you up, you’re saying “no” to yourself. And it adds up.

Here’s the thing: people-pleasing often comes from a place of fear—fear of disappointing others, being seen as difficult, or even losing relationships. But true alignment asks us to trust that the right people and opportunities will stick around when we honour our own needs.

It’s hard to put ourselves first when we’ve been doing it for lifetimes! But you can connect with your true self. It starts today, and we will constantly work at this! I still say yes to things when I mean no, but I’ve gotten A LOT better at it! Especially when it comes to nights out drinking!

🌿 Sign #3: You’re Numbing Out

Endless scrolling, binge-watching, impulse shopping, mindless snacking, overthinking—it’s all the same thing: avoiding what’s really going on beneath the surface.

And let’s be real, there’s nothing wrong with a cozy Netflix night or an Instagram Reel deep dive. The difference? It’s all about why you’re doing it. The way to tell if you’re out of spiritual alignment is to ask yourself- Are you watching that show because it lights you up? Or because the silence feels too loud?

Numbing usually shows up when life feels off, but we can’t quite put our finger on why. So, instead of sitting with the discomfort, we reach for distractions. It’s like slapping a Band-Aid on a wound without actually cleaning it—temporary relief, but the real issue lingers underneath.

🌿 Sign #4: Life Feels Bland—Like You’re Watching It Pass You By

One of my past clients described it perfectly: “It’s like I’m sitting on a train, watching life happen outside the window.” You’re moving through the days, checking the boxes—work, errands, dinner, bed—but it all feels… flat. Like you’re existing, not living.

This isn’t necessarily depression. It’s more of a soul-level disconnect. The spark is missing because you’re not aligned with what truly matters to you. You’re stuck in the cycle of “have to” instead of “want to,” and everything feels like a chore. Even the things you once enjoyed might not hit the same anymore. And the kicker? It feels like you have no time to change it.

For me, this feeling usually creeps in when I’m too in my head and not enough in my heart. When life feels like autopilot, it’s often because I’ve lost touch with the things that make me feel alive and connected to my soul, my essence —like creativity, connection, fun, and time in nature. Those little moments of joy and presence get drowned out by the noise of doing, and it’s easy to forget that life is meant to be felt, not just managed.

🌿 Sign #5: You’re Anxious and Doubting Yourself

You know that feeling when your mind just won’t stop? Every decision feels like life or death. You’re constantly asking, “What if it goes wrong?” or “Why does this always happen to me?” It’s like your brain is stuck on a never-ending loop of worst-case scenarios.

When we’re out of spiritual alignment, our sense of trust—both in ourselves and in life—starts to slip. We lose touch with that quiet inner knowing that says, “You’re going to be okay.” Instead, we start micromanaging every little detail, convinced that if we just try hard enough, we can control the outcome.

Spoiler alert: we can’t.

And I’ll be honest—I still catch myself slipping into this one. When I’m feeling disconnected with myself it’s so easy to spiral into “What’s next? What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough?” But here’s what I’ve learned: alignment isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trusting yourself enough to handle whatever comes your way.

Ponder with me here… How many times have you faced something you thought would break you, only to come out stronger, wiser, and more grounded? That’s the proof. Life is always working for you, even when the path feels messy or uncertain.

The anxiety and self-doubt are just signs that you’ve drifted from your center. It’s your mind trying to protect you, but it’s not the full story. When you reconnect with your soul and what truly matters—your values, your intuition, your sense of self—those fears lose their grip. Because alignment and connecting to your inner self doesn’t mean life is perfect; it means you trust yourself enough to navigate the imperfections with grace.

How to Reconnect With Yourself

So, if you’re nodding along right now, thinking “Yep, that’s me”—take a deep breath. There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re not broken.

You’ve just drifted away from your true self. And the beautiful thing? You can always come back to spiritual alignment. Below are some of my best tips on how to connect with your inner self!

Spend Less Time on Your Phone.
I know, I know—it’s cliché advice. But hear me out. When you wake up and immediately check your phone, you’re flooding your mind with other people’s energy before you’ve even connected with yourself. One simple shift? Put your phone on airplane mode before bed and don’t turn it off until you’re ready to engage with the world.

Create a Mindful Morning Routine.
Crafting a morning ritual or routine can be a game-changer. I’m not talking about a two-hour, Instagram-worthy routine. It’s about finding what feels right for you, something that fits into your life now, even if it’s just a few minutes. If you would like some help crafting a morning routine that works for you then definitely check out Episode 4 of the podcast!

Use Affirmations That Actually Work.
Affirmations only work if they feel believable to you. Instead of saying, “I’m perfectly confident,” try something like, “I’m learning to trust myself more each day.” Creating affirmations is a pretty unique process so I’ve created a 3 day challenge to help you create ones that are unique and true to you.

Get access to the 3 day affirmation challenge here!

Journal It Out.
Journaling really is like therapy on paper. Sometimes, just dumping your thoughts out can reveal patterns you didn’t even realize were there—like uncovering the real reason you’ve been feeling off. Some journal prompts to help you could be:

What’s been weighing on my mind lately?
When was the last time I felt truly excited or peaceful? How can I bring more of that into my life?
What would I do today if I wasn’t worried about anyone else’s opinion?

Embrace Stillness—Even If It’s Uncomfortable.
This one’s tough, I won’t lie. When life feels off, the instinct is to fill the silence—scrolling, binge-watching, keeping busy is strong! But stillness is where the real magic happens. It’s where your inner voice gets loud enough to hear. I literally just sit on the couch and look around me at my surroundings and notice what I see. It’s times like this I notice the squirrels in the trees! If sitting quietly feels overwhelming, try active stillness:

Go for a walk and notice five things you see.

Drive with the radio off and just be with your thoughts.

Take a shower and focus on how the water feels on your skin.

Mindfulness isn’t about forcing peace. It’s about gently guiding yourself back to the present moment, over and over again. If you would like some inspiration on mindful practices be sure to check out my podcast episode on 5 unique mindfulness practices to try!

Before coaching with Lee I felt like I wasn’t aligned to my values in life, and I wasn’t living in the present moment.  I had never worked with a coach before, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had an inkling that coaching was going to be future focused, which is what it was and what I needed in my life :)  Coaching has truly changed my mindset and empowered me to change my life for the better. I have realised that I have so much more autonomy and choice in my life.  I recommend other women to see Lee. She made me feel comfortable, heard and motivated throughout the process.

Before working with Lee I was feeling a bit flat and was tired of how I was just floating through life. I really wanted to feel excited again and get some vibrancy back into my life. I saw this opportunity and although I was nervous to begin I was excited about the potential opportunity to improve myself. I went into coaching with an open mind thinking I would come away with a few tools to improve my life but this experience surpassed all expectations!  After my first session with Lee I realised that it was actually going to be possible to improve my life and it wasn’t going to be as daunting as I thought! The results I have seen from coaching are incredible. I learned so much about myself and I am proud of how I was open to trying new things. After finishing my coaching series I have noticed that I have way more confidence in myself and in my work life. I feel such an improvement in my life and I have the tools available and the knowledge now to continue my life journey on my own and I love that! I am excited to see myself continue to improve and can’t wait to see where I am this time next year!  If I had to sum up coaching with Lee in three words it would be incredible, transformative and fun! I would recommend Lee to everyone!!

The opportunity to work with Lee came at the perfect time in my life when things were beginning to become chaotic and overwhelming and I needed some support and a push in the right direction. Before I worked with Lee I felt unorganised and overwhelmed by life. My main goal was to work on ways to support myself in my daily tasks, feel empowered and confident in my self-worth and embrace my creative skills. Our sessions were so comfortable, open and enlightening. Now, after finishing working with Lee I have realised how much of a strong ass woman I am when I take the time to back myself, and celebrate my achievements no matter how small. My friends and family have noticed how much my confidence in myself has grown and how this experience has given me support and space to solidify my values and assert my needs. Lee is an amazing woman and I am so grateful for her understanding, and positive attitude to help guide me towards a clearer future. Thank you for continuing to empower women!

Before connecting with Lee I felt a bit lost and needed some direction and clarity. I wanted to attract the person I wanted to be and for me that meant being clear in my choices, creating healthy realtionships with myself, others and money as well as continuing to have fun in life and keep learning 🙂 I was tired of being stuck where I was and I knew that I wanted to move forward. After our first session I really understood the power of intention and the impact of how we word things.  The biggest change I witnessed was realisation that intention is everything and taking the first step creates another. I didn’t realise how easy it was haha!

When I started the coaching series I was struggling with low motivation, lack of discipline and low self esteem. I was stuck in a rut and unable to find a way out of that rut. I was hopping to find my drive and my mojo again.  After my first session with Lee I felt confident but also I knew that the road ahead would not be an easy one. The biggest changes I have noticed is my relationship with myself has changed and I am loving who I am more.   It was a pleasure to work with you and have you as a coach Lee. So much Aroha to you.
